Book Review: Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook

One of my awesome clients started reading Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook and asked me to join in with her for a work-related book club. This is the third book from award winning social media expert, Gary Vaynerchuk. We both found the book fascinating and I wanted to share some learnings with you all here.

This book is a social media blueprint on how to jab, meaning to excite and delights your customer, on the right social media platforms at the right time. By delighting your customers often enough, you can plan for a right hook, meaning a sale or campaign that will knock out your competition. It really re-enforced the things I already stress to my clients, which is “though your business’s micro-content {on social media} will vary wildly every day, it must consistently answer the question who are we?” WHO ARE WE? What are our goals? These are questions that you should always be asking on social media.

With a great focus on social media content your business can really see an impact of sales. From Gary, “When you create stellar content native to a platform’s context, you can make a person feel; if your content can make a person feel, he is likely to share it with others, providing you with amplified word of mouth at a fraction of the cost of most other media.” Amplified word of mouth is one of the best marketing tools available to summer camps.

The entire book to me was really summed up at: Content + Context + Effort= Winning in Social Media. I highly recommend you read this book for some great social media learnings.
